Help · Channels & messages
One private place for every conversation.
Friendly keeps every kind of work conversation under one roof — direct messages with a client, the project channel for a team, and the bounty thread when you're awarded one.
Direct messages
1:1 and small-group DMs are end-to-end encrypted by default. Only you and the people in the chat can read them — not us, not anyone else. The small sage padlock in the app-bar of an encrypted conversation is the visible cue.
Your phone number stays inside Friendly when you DM someone — the platform is the introducer; you can share contact details when you're ready.
Channels & threads
Larger or longer-running engagements use channels: shared spaces with members, threads, presence, and pinned messages. Each bounty awarded to you opens its own channel between you and the client.
Threads keep specific sub-conversations from drowning the main channel — reply on a message to start one.
Files & media
Drop a file into any message — images, PDFs, design exports, ZIPs, anything reasonable. Files in encrypted DMs are encrypted client-side before they leave your device; the server only ever sees ciphertext.
Search & history
Search inside any conversation by tapping the search icon in the app-bar. End-to-end encrypted DMs are searched on-device — we don't have the keys to search them on our side.
Message history syncs to every device you sign in on. Sign out of a device and the local cache is wiped.
Notifications
Push notifications cover messages, bounty matches, and meeting reminders. Quiet hours and per-channel mutes are fully respected — pick the device that should ping and the rest stay silent.
